EDF Energy CEO Completes Tour Of British Energy Sites At Torness

Vincent de Rivaz, CEO of EDF Energy, last week visited employees at British Energy's Torness power station in East Lothian, to meet some of the 550 staff based there and to respond to questions about the future of the combined company.

This completes a programme of visits following the acquisition of British Energy by EDF Energy.

Mr de Rivaz was accompanied by Eva Eisenschimmel, chief officer, people, organisation and brand performance on the informal visit where they met with some of the combined new firm's 20,000 employees.

During Wednesday's visit Mr de Rivaz discussed a variety of issues with staff, including the strong support for existing nuclear, as he toured the plant with Torness' former station director, Brian Cowell and his replacement Paul Winkle, who was formerly plant manager.

Mr de Rivaz said: "This was an opportunity to meet the team at Torness on an informal basis and to listen to their thoughts on the new business. There are a great many shared values between the two organisations and both will be stronger for this combination.

"It is a significant milestone which reinforces EDF Energy's strategy as a vertically integrated energy company with leading roles in generation, distribution and supply of energy."

Taking the reigns from Brian Cowell, Paul Winkle, new station director said: "The whole team at Torness were pleased that the chief executive took the time to visit us. The integration with EDF Energy is positive news both for the investment it will bring to our existing plant and for the opportunities it will raise through new nuclear build across the fleet over the next few years."
