Lovell Splashes Out For Bobath At Charity Dragon Boat Race

A team from Lovell housing solutions has raised more than £1,200 for Bobath Scotland - which helps children with cerebral palsy - by taking part in the charity's 2009 Dragon Boat Challenge.

A Lovell crew of fourteen rowers and a drummer competed in the annual event, held over a 250-metre course on Loch Lomond.

"So far, we have raised more than £1,200 but more money is still coming in," said Lovell site manager and team organiser Jim Millar. "Our team has received generous sponsorship from Lovell staff as well as our subcontractors and suppliers, friends and family. It was a brilliant day. The charity does fantastic work at its centre in Glasgow and it's great to have raised so much money."

The Lovell boat finished seventh in this year's race. It was crewed by staff working for the company's Scotland office, plus two rowers from the company's subcontractors.

This was the fifth time that Lovell has taken part in the annual Bobath Scotland dragon boat event, with the total money raised for Bobath Scotland by the company now standing at more than £5,000.

Val Crawford, events organiser and community fundraiser for Bobath Scotland, said: "It's been great to have such sustained support from Lovell year after year. As a small charity, this kind of generosity makes a huge difference to us and our work."

A total of 19 teams took part in this year's race.
