The National Specialist Contractors' Council (NSCC) has announced that the Confederation of Construction Specialists (CCS) has been accepted into membership.

The CCS, which represents organisations with a combined turnover in excess of £3bn a year, promotes the Early Specialist Contractor Involvement (ESCI) of its members in the process of building procurement.

It also has an ongoing campaign for the fair apportionment of risk throughout the supply chain and is looking forward to working with NSCC on its Fair Payment Campaign which was launched in September 2007 to improve payment practices throughout the construction industry.

The addition of CCS brings the total number of organisations under the NSCC umbrella to 30 representing over 7,000 businesses engaged in the construction of the built environment in both the commercial and domestic sectors.

The NSCC President, Simon Bottomley, said: "The Government has been saying for some time that the construction industry is too fragmented and the addition of CCS demonstrates the benefit of the specialist sector working together and will give valuable

weight to the NSCC voice when lobbying on key issues affecting Specialist Contractors."
