Ministers To Make Decision On Beauly To Denny Electricity Line

The report from the public local inquiry into proposals to upgrade the Beauly to Denny electricity line will now be reviewed by Scottish Government ministers.

The inquiry, which was the largest since devolution, focuses on plans for a new transmission line able to carry 400,000 volts (400kV).


Evidence was heard from almost 200 witnesses over 105 days.

Campaigners are against the construction of 42-65m high towers which form part of the replacement of the existing 132kV line.

The Scottish Government will make a final decision on the proposal later this year.
