More Council Houses Arrive In West Lothian

The foundations for future sustainable communities are being put in place in West Lothian after plans to build a further 452 new council houses were announced.

West Lothian Council's Council Executive has agreed to build at nine sites across West Lothian.

The sites are: Dixon Terrace, Whitburn; Rosemount Court, Bathgate; Uphall; Eliburn East, Livingston; Inveralmond CHS playing fields; Little Boghead 6; Alderston Road, Livingston; Former infant school site at Uphall Station and Ferrier Crescent/Marches Drive, Armadale.

Two hundred and forty eight houses and flats are already under construction as part of the first phase of West Lothian Council's ambitious programme - the first council homes to be built in West Lothian in over a quarter of a century.

A short list of potential house builders will now be invited to submit tenders for the second phase and it is hoped that construction will be underway by February 2010.

The new homes will include the development of housing with care units in Bathgate and construction of bungalows associated with the respite unit in Uphall.
