The Church of Scotland has joined the National Landlords Association (NLA), the leading representative body for private-residential landlords in the United Kingdom, becoming its first ecclesiastical member.

The General Trustees of the Church of Scotland, currently housing 25 tenants, are responsible for all property-related matters for the Kirk including those properties within the private-rented sector.

Tim Parker, Deputy Secretary, General Trustees of the Church of Scotland, commenting on joining the NLA, said: "The Church of Scotland prides itself on providing a high standard of rental accommodation to its tenants. By joining the NLA, this commitment is demonstrated more fully.

"With increased regulation in the Scottish private-rented sector, it has never been more important for all landlords, large or small, to stay completely up-to-date with changes in regulations. We are confident the NLA will help us to do this from the outset."

Jim Parker, Chairman, NLA Scotland, welcoming the Church of Scotland’s membership, said: "The NLA is very pleased to welcome the Church of Scotland as a full member. Although the Kirk only has a small number of privately renting tenants, by joining the NLA they are committing to the highest standards of best practice."
