James Frew, one of Scotland's leading building service companies, has been awarded a £2.5m contract to carry out building services works on behalf of Barr Construction Ltd for the new Girvan Community Hospital.

Located on Girvan Road at the edge of the town, the hospital will comprise in and out patient accommodation; rehabilitation suite, casualty facility, ambulance stations, pharmacy, café and support accommodation.


The building has been designed to incorporate low zero carbon technologies such as a wind turbine and rainwater recovery systems. James Frew will be providing the complete mechanical services installation, including a highly efficient biomass boiler plant, ventilation, medical gas, water services and sanitary ware.

Commenting on the contract Richard Frew, Managing Director, James Frew said: "The community hospital is a real model for future facilities. It has embraced eco-friendly technologies as far as possible providing a highly efficient and cost aware environment."
