Robertson Eastern Joins Salvation Army To Open Aberdeen Citadel Refurbishment

Robertson Eastern has joined The Salvation Army to officially open the newly refurbished Aberdeen Citadel.

The Aberdeen-based contractor carried out the £3.4m refurbishment of the famous landmark building in Castle Street.

Specialist trades and craftsmen have restored the historic site over the past two years to create a stunning building which compliments the original architectural design.

The facility has also been developed to allow The Salvation Army to deliver its valuable support services in a modern bespoke environment.

The Citadel now features fully-equipped function rooms and offices, a dedicated computer suite and the worship hall is now an impressive 300-seater auditorium featuring a broadcast quality sound and lighting system. A glass-fronted internet café also offers views onto Mercat Cross and down Union Street.

Managing director Sean O'Callaghan said: "It is very pleasing that we could be in attendance with our client, The Salvation Army, to officially open the newly refurbished building.

"Throughout the design and development phases we have worked closely with our client to create a fully-equipped modern building which remains sensitive to the original architectural design.

"The result is a flexible state-of-the art facility which will allow the Salvation Army to continue its mission of serving those in need."

Captain David Alton said: "It is an exciting time for The Salvation Army in Aberdeen and we would like to thank Robertson Eastern for their outstanding work in transforming our iconic building and making it fit for the 21st Century, the quality and finish of the interior is of a very high standard."
