Waggon Way Reopens

Waggon Way in Alloa is due to reopen on May 12 after being closed for 18 months due to safety concerns about a dangerous section of high wall.

The wall has been removed and rebuilt and is now structurally sound.

The Council's Roads Contracts Team are now completing a short section of resurfacing required to complete the route.

From May 12 Waggon Way will be fully accessible for pedestrians, cyclists and people with mobility impairments. It will also be an ideal route to the new Alloa Academy.

This year the Council aims to modernise the existing pelican crossing on King Street (Ring Road) to provide a better crossing to Erskine Street Bridge and to Argyll Street Bridge and on to the new hospital at Sauchie. Further proposed improvements include street lighting of the Devonway path between Argyll Street Bridge and the new hospital.

Council Roads and Transportation Manager Mac West said: "We'd like to thank people for their patience while these essential repairs were being carried out and are happy to announce the reopening of Waggon Way."
