Scottish Water has responded to the Water Industry Commission for Scotland's annual assessment of its performance in 2025–26, noting the regulator's findings of sustained high service levels and investment broadly in line with plans. The utility also pointed to consistently strong customer satisfaction and overall service outcomes during the current regulatory period.
Alex Plant, Chief Executive of Scottish Water, said: "Scottish Water welcomes the WICS' annual assessment of performance in 2025-26 and its findings that we continued to deliver high levels of service for customers and maintained investment generally in line with planned levels.
"We also welcome that WICS finds that customer satisfaction remained high and that overall service performance remained among the strongest achieved in the current regulatory period. We are very proud of the performance we have delivered for our customers.
"Scottish Water reported earlier this year that 2025/26 was one of our strongest years of performance, with record customer satisfaction and trust, the lowest-ever number of serious pollution incidents, high drinking-water quality and continued major investment. This was achieved while coping with growing challenges from extreme weather, ageing assets and shifting population.
"The WICS report also comments on the delivery of several longer-term commitments.
"While it is true that some outputs are behind plan, this is countered by an equal number being ahead of plan. This reflects the dynamic nature of how we plan and take forward our work, adjusting to respond to emerging key priorities.
"Overall, we view this as a robust position; we are confident that we will deliver all of our long-term commitments to customers and we will continue to monitor closely and report on progress."
