Work Begins On Final 315 Homes At Dargavel Village

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and BAE Systems marked a major milestone in delivering the Dargavel Village masterplan with a sod-cutting ceremony celebrating the start of construction on Taylor Wimpey West Scotland's final parcel of new homes in Bishopton.

The event, attended by senior representatives from both organisations, marks the start of work on the recently approved 315-home development off Arrochar Drive. Renfrewshire Council granted Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) in May, enabling Taylor Wimpey West Scotland to proceed with the final phase of housebuilding in the successful and popular Dargavel Village community.

The final development will deliver a diverse mix of three, four and five-bedroom homes, including 257 properties from Taylor Wimpey's new national range and 58 homes from its exclusive Caledonian Collection. All homes will feature sustainable Air Source Heat Pump technology, alongside enhanced biodiversity measures such as bird bricks and hedgehog highways. The plans also include safe and accessible footpath links connecting to the wider masterplan and excellent access to local amenities, including the new 45-acre Central Park and Bishopton Train Station.

Speaking at the ceremony, David Blair, Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: "Breaking ground on our final phase of new homes is a proud moment for everyone involved. Over the past 15 years, Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has played a key role in shaping Dargavel Village into a thriving, high-quality community. With planning approval now in place, and early preparatory works completed, we're excited to begin full construction to deliver a well-connected, sustainable neighbourhood that enhances the local environment and supports long-term growth. Our partnership with BAE Systems has been central to the success of the masterplan, and today's sod-cutting reflects the strength of that collaboration."

Jon Gettinby, Project Management, Engineering, Quality & Bishopton Programme Director for BAE Systems, added: "Dargavel Village has been a transformational project for Bishopton, and we're delighted to mark the start of construction on Taylor Wimpey West Scotland's final parcel of homes. This milestone demonstrates the continued commitment of both organisations to delivering a community that offers high-quality housing, excellent connectivity and long-term environmental benefits. We look forward to seeing this final phase take shape and to completing the vision that has guided the development from the outset."

With construction now underway, the first new homes for this part of the development will launch for sale in late October/early November 2026. For more information and to register interest, visit www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/dargavel-village.
