Morgan Sindall Construction has been appointed by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) to demolish and rebuild the Liberton station in the capital.

Procured via the SCAPE Scotland Construction Framework, the £10m scheme marks a significant investment in SFRS infrastructure and will create a modern base designed to serve communities and meet operational needs for decades to come.

Occupying a key strategic location for responses across Edinburgh and the east of Scotland, the new station will enhance the service's capability and resilience.

Plans include upgraded welfare and decontamination facilities, an improved community space, and dedicated areas for handling contaminated fire kit to further protect staff safety and wellbeing.

The project forms part of a wider five-year programme to address reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) across affected fire stations, with additional repair and rebuild works scheduled nationwide.

This latest appointment builds on Morgan Sindall's established partnership with SFRS, following the successful refurbishment of stations at Inverness, Dingwall, Newcraighall and Galashiels — all delivered on time, within budget and without disrupting live blue light operations.
