GRAHAM has marked the topping out of Unite Students' 934-bed Central Quay purpose-built student accommodation in Glasgow, which will be known as Alexander Quay. The ceremony celebrated reaching the highest point of the scheme.

The £126 million, 21-storey project is due to complete in time for the start of the 2027/28 academic year, bringing a long-vacant site north of the River Clyde back into use. A mix of cluster flats and studios is planned, with the additional capacity expected to help ease housing pressures by freeing up privately rented homes for local families.

Designed for contemporary student living, amenities will include a social marketplace cafe, yoga room, screen rooms and a garden room with terrace.

Chris MacLeod, Director at GRAHAM, said: "Reaching topping out at Central Quay marks significant structural progress on a scheme that will deliver 934 much-needed student beds in Glasgow. The development brings a long-disused brownfield site back into service, and its BREEAM Excellent target sets a high sustainability standard for the build. Once complete, Central Quay will serve both the city's students and the people who live in the surrounding community."
