Castle Building Services has completed the full mechanical, electrical, public health and renewable services for the Passivhaus-certified Paisley Grammar School Community Campus in Renfrewshire.
Appointed by Morrison Construction, the scheme is one of several school projects the two companies have delivered together across Scotland.
Featuring a 300-seat theatre, the campus is the first Passivhaus school within the Renfrewshire Council local authority area.
The project is funded by Renfrewshire Council and the Scottish Futures Trust, supported by finance from the Scottish Government's Learning Estate Improvement Programme.
Castle's scope covered the design, supply, installation and commissioning of mechanical systems including above-ground drainage, domestic services, low-temperature hot water and underfloor heating, ventilation and air conditioning, incoming mains, thermal insulation, commissioning and building management systems to monitor and control energy use, along with air source heat pumps.
Electrical works comprised LV installations, fire and intruder alarms, security systems, lighting with controls, earthing and bonding, lightning protection, data, induction loops and EV charging. All services were installed to meet Passivhaus standards.
Richard Farrel, divisional director, Castle Building Services, said: "It's exciting to see this project come to a conclusion, ahead of its scheduled completion. We are delighted to have been a key part of the team delivering an exceptional teaching facility for the residents of Paisley. The fact it is the first Passivhaus school in Renfrewshire is something we are very proud of and we are sure the campus will inspire staff and pupils to excel in all they do.
"Our thanks to Morrison Construction for providing us with the opportunity to partner with it again, especially on a project that allowed us to demonstrate our full range of skills and expertise."
David Ewing, Morrison Construction Building Central Managing Director, said: "The whole project team at Paisley Grammar School has achieved a fantastic result for staff and students and Castle has played its full part in that. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Castle Building Services in the future and building on our track record of high-quality educational facilities throughout the region."
