One hundred affordable homes have been finished at The Crossings in South Queensferry, a significant milestone as Sanctuary Scotland completes its first development in the capital.

Delivered in partnership with national housing specialist Lovell Partnerships and completed in May 2026, the Builyeon Road scheme comprises 64 two-bedroom flats, 16 two-bedroom houses and 20 three-bedroom houses. The homes form part of a wider 398-home masterplan and enjoy striking views of the three iconic bridges.

All properties achieve an EPC B rating and include photovoltaic panels to help cut energy use and lower bills. They were constructed using an offsite-manufactured timber frame made from sustainably sourced materials.

The achievement was marked on Wednesday 26 August with a visit by representatives from Sanctuary Scotland and Lovell, joined by members of the Queensferry & District Community Council, who toured the site and met residents settling into their new homes.

This has been a significant project and one that Lovell is proud to have delivered alongside Sanctuary Scotland.

We would also like to thank Queensferry & District Community Council for its ongoing engagement and for sharing local insights throughout the project."

The broader masterplan follows 20-minute neighbourhood principles, with active travel connections to the Southern Woodland Walk and Dundas Estate Park, plus cycle storage, electric vehicle charging and access to a car club.

Local resident, Suzanne Maclean, said: "My first impressions are absolutely wonderful. The build quality feels incredibly solid, safe and beautifully put together. I would rate the design and finishes 10 out of 10, and the layout is bright, spacious and perfect for my everyday needs, with stunning views.

"What I value most is how dry, warm and highly accessible the property is. It provides a genuinely safe environment for my health.

"The South Queensferry location is absolutely beautiful, quiet and peaceful. It is also very convenient, with great local amenities nearby, lovely walks and easy access to the motorway."

The project received grant funding from the Scottish Government.
