The JR Group Delivers 43 Energy-Efficient Homes In Govan

Two lift-served blocks built on the former Elderpark Community Centre site have been completed with support from Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government, with the first tenants expected to move in from September.

The JR Group has completed and transferred a development of 43 energy-efficient homes at Nimmo Drive in Govan to Elderpark Housing Association, with initial residents due to begin moving in from September.

Undertaken by The JR Group on behalf of Elderpark Housing Association, the project has repurposed the former Elderpark Community Centre site to provide high-quality social rented housing for local people and to contribute to the area’s wider regeneration.

The scheme comprises a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom flats arranged across two residential blocks. Both buildings include lift access, and the homes have been designed with sustainability in mind, featuring sustainable heating systems, generous amenity space, and both internal and external cycle storage.

The development received significant funding from Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government, helping to deliver much-needed affordable housing for the Govan community.

Throughout construction, The JR Group collaborated with project partners to deliver a series of community benefits alongside the new homes.

These included donating 100 Easter eggs to Florence Care Home and a further 100 to residents of Elderpark Housing Association, installing new roller shutters at Connie’s Community Centre, and contributing £250 towards the Benburb Football Camp.

The project team also supported a community mural at Langland Road by providing scaffolding, and explored school work experience opportunities with Govan High School.

Local businesses were engaged through the supply chain during the build, with firms from the surrounding area involved, including Strathclyde Demolition (around six miles from the site), CTM Fabrications (approximately three miles), Magnus Electrical (around nine miles), and CHAPS Plumbing (around nine miles).

Their involvement helped ensure the investment generated wider economic benefits for the area.
