Creag Dhubh Team Installs New Fence At Taynuilt Primary School

Construction News Image

A new boundary fence has been installed at Taynuilt Primary School in Argyll, supported by SSEN Transmission's Creag Dhubh substation project team.

Working with delivery partner BAM and substation fencing contractor Alter Supplies and Contracting, the team donated materials and labour to replace a fence that was no longer fit for purpose. The initiative aligns with the Creag Dhubh project's social sustainability goals to support local organisations and community initiatives. It forms part of the wider Argyll 275kV Reinforcement Scheme, which is upgrading the region's electricity transmission network, enabling more renewable generation and improving security of supply.

David Fraser, SSEN Transmission's Lead Project Manager, said: "Together with our delivery partner BAM, we were delighted to support Taynuilt Primary School with the installation of a new fence. The team has done a fantastic job, constructing the new boundary, replacing the existing fence and helping to improve the playground environment for pupils and staff. This reflects our wider commitment to supporting the communities where we work, and we were pleased to be able to donate both materials and our time to make a positive difference to the school environment."

Joe McBride, Project Manager at BAM, said: "At BAM, we see every project as an opportunity to create lasting benefits for the communities where we work, not just through the infrastructure we deliver but through the positive impact we can make locally. Supporting Taynuilt Primary School with a new boundary fence is a simple example of how we can use our skills, people and supply chain to respond to a local need, creating a safer and more welcoming outdoor environment for local pupils."

Further details about the Argyll 275kV Reinforcement Scheme and the Creag Dhubh substation are available on SSEN Transmission's website.
