Co-Working And Events Hub Revitalises Historic Glasgow HQ

Construction News Image

Scottish Renewables has unveiled new member-focused events and co-working facilities inside its Glasgow city centre headquarters, breathing fresh life into the former Glasgow Evening Citizen offices at 24 St Vincent Place.

The industry body, which represents more than 350 organisations advancing Scotland's clean energy transition, has been based in the landmark building, originally constructed in 1889, since May 2023.

Previously vacant areas have been transformed into a Member Zone & Events Space to broaden services for member organisations and give the team greater flexibility. The facilities include a versatile events venue for up to 100 people, hot-desking for members and stakeholders, and a suite of private meeting rooms and breakout spaces.

Since opening, the hub has hosted a range of gatherings and networking sessions organised by the Department for Business & Trade, EnergyPro, Tarmac and Leidos. Following the Union Corner fire, TNEI was also accommodated at short notice for its away day.

"A fantastic event hosted at Scottish Renewables' excellent venue at their Glasgow headquarters. The sessions were insightful and highly relevant, creating a valuable forum for industry discussion." – EnergyPro

Upgraded boardroom facilities have enabled Scottish Renewables to step up its external engagement, providing larger rooms for roundtable discussions with stakeholders from across the sector, including both the Scottish and UK governments.

"The meeting room was light and very spacious, easily accommodating our party of 20 guests as well as facilitating a remote guest that was unable to attend in person. The location of this facility near to Queen Street train station is another bonus." – The Scottish Government

The space is overseen by Emma Gray, Membership Manager, who is encouraging even more members to make use of the offer — whether that's dropping in for a desk between meetings, booking a professional meeting room or staging a larger event.

Angela Hepworth, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, said: "The new space provides a valuable addition to the services we offer our member organisations while strengthening our ability to support the sector's growth and development.

"We are proud custodians of the historic Citizen building, and I am delighted that the new space is helping to bring more people into the city centre while creating new opportunities to advance Scottish Renewables' work."

Members can find further details, including the Member Zone & Events Space brochure and booking options for desks and meeting rooms, on the Scottish Renewables website or by contacting Emma Gray to discuss commercial opportunities.
