Overnight M9 Southbound Closures For Bridge Joint Repairs At Junction 1

Construction News Image

Transport Scotland's operating company, BEAR Scotland, will carry out the repairs, which require full overnight closures of the M9 southbound carriageway from 20:30 to 06:00 each night. During these closures, traffic will be diverted via the slip road to Newbridge Roundabout and then immediately rejoin the motorway, adding around two minutes to journeys.

Further overnight closures of the southbound slip road to Newbridge Roundabout will also be necessary, with dates to be confirmed.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland's South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: "This programme of repair is key to ensuring the structural integrity of this bridge.

"The works have been planned to minimise disruption to road users as far as possible, however full closures of the road are unavoidable. These will be limited to overnight hours to minimise any disruption."

Live traffic updates are available on the Traffic Scotland website at www.traffic.gov.scot and on X via @trafficscotland.

All activity is dependent on weather and the condition of the structure once works commence and intrusive investigations are undertaken. The programme may be postponed, cancelled or rearranged if adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances arise.
