Stirling Council Approves Estate Management Strategy To Support Tenants

Stirling Council has signed off a new Estate Management Strategy intended to lift standards across its housing estates, focusing on timely repairs, ongoing maintenance and improved customer service for tenants.

The strategy aims to enhance the appearance and condition of council-owned neighbourhoods and foster constructive relationships with residents through proactive engagement on issues such as fly-tipping, vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

Elected members approved the policy at a recent meeting of the Council's Housing Committee.

Over 6,000 properties, including 347 common closes, are covered by Stirling Council's Estate Wardens. The new approach places greater emphasis on collaborative working between Environmental Health, Waste Services, Community Wardens and Police Scotland so neighbourhood problems can be tackled holistically as they arise.

Housing Convener, Cllr Willie Ferguson said: "The development of the Estate Management Strategy will help ensure that our council housing estates are looked after to a high standard. "I'm glad that a commitment to ongoing, visible and proactive engagement with tenants is underlined throughout this new strategy as we aim to build and strengthen trust in the service. "I welcome the actions it sets out to improve methods for reporting problems such as untidy gardens or fly tipping in order that our neighbourhoods are clean and attractive places that our tenants can take pride in."

The Estate Management Strategy can be viewed on the Stirling Council website.
