Glasgow and London Student Housing Contracts Awarded to CField Construction

CField Construction has been officially appointed by Fusion Group as the main contractor to deliver two landmark developments in Glasgow and London. Valued at a combined £176 million, the contracts will deliver purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) and affordable housing, with both schemes scheduled for handover ahead of the 2028 academic year.

In Glasgow, CField Construction has broken ground on a £79 million PBSA development on Sauchiehall Street. The 633-bed project will retain an existing 1930s Art Deco façade and aims to rejuvenate the local streetscape. As part of the build, the historic Wellington Arcade will be reinstated to provide sustainable, community-driven urban living tailored for the city's growing student population.

In London, the contractor will deliver a £97 million mixed-use scheme in Wood Green. This project features a 636-bed PBSA building alongside 79 affordable homes, integrating community-focused public realm spaces and sustainable amenities.

The dual appointment reflects the corporate alignment and collaboration between both organisations as they expand their footprints across the UK.

Gavin O'Flaherty, Managing Director of CField Construction, commented: "Securing these two major contracts with Fusion Group is an important milestone for CField Construction and a strong endorsement of our team's delivery capability in the living sector. Wood Green and Sauchiehall Street are both high-profile, complex urban schemes, and our focus is now on delivering them safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. We look forward to working closely with Fusion Group and the wider project teams to bring forward high-quality accommodation and affordable homes that make a positive contribution to their local communities."

André Ferdinand, Projects Director at Fusion Group, added: "We are delighted to partner with CField Construction on these two flagship schemes. This collaboration brings together a shared commitment to construction excellence, innovative design, and architectural distinction. Wood Green and Sauchiehall Street are pivotal to our growth strategy, and CField's proven delivery capability aligns with our strategic priorities of opening two high quality developments for the 2028 intake."
