BAM UK & Ireland has signed the Buy Social Pledge, an initiative from Social Enterprise Scotland designed to encourage organisations to use their procurement power to deliver social good across communities in Scotland.
The pledge brings together corporate businesses, SMEs, academic institutions and public sector bodies that are committed to integrating social enterprises into their supply chains. As the latest signatory, BAM UK & Ireland has committed to using its purchasing power to support positive change in local areas.
Douglas Stewart, Commercial Director at BAM UK & Ireland, said: "BAM UK & Ireland has signed Social Enterprise Scotland's Buy Social Pledge, marking the start of work to identify more inclusive commercial opportunities for social enterprises and local suppliers within Scotland's growing energy infrastructure sector."
Alongside the pledge, the company has become a Sponsor Member of Social Enterprise Scotland, underscoring its intention to deliver meaningful social value through its operations, partnerships and projects.
Earlier this year, SSEN Transmission awarded BAM UK & Ireland and Siemens Energy a major contract to deliver the Greens substation project. With the new commitment, the scheme is set to demonstrate how procurement choices can open up commercial opportunities for social enterprises and strengthen communities across Scotland.
Jamie Lawson, Strategic Partnerships and Engagement Manager at Social Enterprise Scotland, said: "We are delighted to welcome BAM UK & Ireland as both a signatory of the Buy Social Pledge and as a Sponsor Member of Social Enterprise Scotland.
"Their commitment demonstrates a genuine dedication to delivering social value through both their supply chain and wider business practices.
"By championing and investing in the social enterprise sector, BAM UK & Ireland is helping to drive positive impact and build community wealth across Scotland and is setting a strong example for the energy infrastructure sector."
