Ravenscraig Reaches Key Milestone with Completion of Motus Commercials Facility

Construction News Image

Ravenscraig has achieved a significant development milestone following the completion of a new 38,000 sq ft commercial vehicle workshop and sales facility for Motus Commercials within SevenFourEight, the site's dedicated employment zone.

The newly built facility is designed to support the sale, servicing, and maintenance of heavy goods vehicles. This expansion allows Motus Commercials to scale up its operations and accommodate rising customer demand throughout Scotland. Operating as the UK's largest dealer group for DAF Trucks, the business has relocated to the site from its former premises in Bellshill, benefiting from enhanced capacity and upgraded working environments for its staff.

This project completion represents the latest phase in the regeneration of Ravenscraig—one of Europe's largest brownfield redevelopment initiatives—as it continues to draw prominent employers and major investment into the North Lanarkshire region.

Russell Wilkie, Director at Ravenscraig Limited, said: "The completion of Motus Commercials' new facility is another significant step forward for Ravenscraig as we continue to deliver on our vision of creating a thriving business and employment hub. This investment reinforces the strength of demand for high-quality industrial space at Ravenscraig and highlights the site's strategic importance within Scotland's central belt, creating opportunities for long-term economic growth and jobs in the area."

Daniel Fitzjohn, Commercial Director, Motus Commercials said: "The opening of our new facility at Ravenscraig marks an important milestone for Motus Commercials and reflects our continued commitment to investing in our network, our people and our customers.

"The site provides the additional capacity, modern facilities and strategic location we need to support future growth, while ensuring we continue to deliver the highest levels of service and support to operators across Scotland. We are pleased to now be fully operational at Ravenscraig and look forward to becoming part of the site's ongoing success story."

Situated with direct access to the M74 and M8 motorways, the SevenFourEight zone stands as a vital component of the overarching Ravenscraig masterplan, delivering well-connected, high-quality industrial and commercial space. Additional development opportunities remain available as the location continues its long-term evolution.
