Work has officially commenced on the development of new, high-quality industrial accommodation at one of Ayrshire's prominent locations for business and commerce.
The £4.4 million project, located at the Annickbank Innovation Campus in Irvine, is being executed by Clark Contracts. The development will establish three new industrial units, providing approximately 1,500 square metres of modern, energy-efficient operational space suitable for a variety of businesses.
This initiative marks the final phase of construction at the Annickbank Innovation Campus. The campus represents a critical site within the i3 Enterprise Area, which stands as Scotland's largest life sciences enterprise area. Previous development phases at the location have already delivered nearly 3,000 square metres of business space, alongside essential infrastructure such as roads, parking facilities, and servicing areas. The site also featured the completion of a new office pavilion, which was built by Clark Contracts in 2024.
Councillor Eleanor Collier, Cabinet Member for Green Environment and Economy, said: "We are delighted that work has started on the fourth and final stage at the Annickbank Innovation Campus. The i3 Enterprise Area is a key strategic site for Ayrshire and one we are marketing and developing to attract top companies to the area. This new development will provide even more opportunities to attract investment into the area and we look forward to working with Clark Contracts over the coming months."
Michael Scanlan, Director at Clark Contracts, commented: "It's a pleasure to build on our relationship with North Ayrshire Council while helping to drive local business growth across the region through the delivery of another development at Annickbank. Together, we are also focused on delivering wider community benefits through job creation, work placements and engagement with local schools."
The construction project is funded through the Levelling Up for Ayrshire: Commercial and Low Carbon Infrastructure programme. Approximately £25 million has been secured for the wider initiative via the UK Government's Local Regeneration Fund and Shared Prosperity Fund, alongside the Scottish Government's Vacant and Derelict Land Fund, Vacant and Derelict Land Investment Programme, and Place Based Investment Programme, with additional financial backing from North Ayrshire Council.
