Clark Contracts has hosted students from the University of Edinburgh at one of its active student accommodation developments in central Edinburgh, offering a practical look at the industry and a live project environment.
During the visit, students toured the site, met members of the project team and joined a Q&A session covering the breadth of roles required to deliver construction projects. Representatives from Clark Contracts' recruitment team were present alongside a University of Edinburgh alumnus to share guidance on career pathways, workplace experiences and the different routes into the sector.
The University's Insights Programme helps students build confidence, skills and connections by providing access to workplace experiences and alumni networks. It forms part of the institution's wider widening participation efforts, supporting students to broaden their horizons and establish professional contacts.
Michael Scanlan, Director at Clark Contracts, said: "We were delighted to welcome students from The University of Edinburgh to our site and provide an insight into the wide range of opportunities available within the construction industry. Visits like this help young people better understand the different career paths open to them, while showcasing the collaborative nature of project delivery and the variety of roles involved."
By opening up live project environments, Clark Contracts continues to engage with schools, colleges and universities to inspire future talent. These initiatives underline the range of opportunities available, from site management and project delivery to commercial, technical and support roles.
Clark Contracts is also currently delivering the University of Edinburgh's Large Animal Research and Imaging Facility (LARIF), a project supporting the future of agricultural and biomedical research.
