BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is progressing rockslope stabilisation on the A828 between Ledaig and Benderloch, approximately two miles north of Connel Bridge.
The latest phase is now under way and is expected to take up to six months. It includes the installation of a temporary working platform to enable safe access to the northern section of the slope. Once established, crews will remove loose rock and install netting and rock anchors to improve stability.
To safeguard the workforce and road users, temporary traffic signals will operate 24 hours a day for the duration of the works. During certain critical operations, traffic may be held briefly.
Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
A further phase will be required to treat the final section of the rock slope. BEAR Scotland's geotechnical specialists are developing options in collaboration with Transport Scotland, with more information to be shared once plans are confirmed.
Michael Baxter, BEAR Scotland's North West Improvements Scheme Manager said: "These works are essential to ensure the long‑term safety and resilience of the route, and this next phase enables us to carry out critical stabilisation works safely and effectively.
"Our teams are committed to progressing the works as efficiently as possible. We wish to thank local residents, businesses, and road users for their continued patience and understanding while these vital safety improvements are delivered on this key route."
