Scottish Govt Launches £750,000 Road Safety Framework Fund

A £750,000 fund dedicated to supporting pioneering road safety initiatives across Scotland has officially opened for applications. The Road Safety Framework Fund is designed to invest in schemes that contribute to the national goal of ensuring Scotland possesses the safest roads in the world by 2030.

The application window is open until Monday 4 May 2026. The fund is accessible to a variety of organisations based in Scotland, including registered charities, public sector bodies, university departments, and professional associations. Historically, the framework has provided essential backing to diverse projects focused on high-risk groups, such as young drivers, motorcyclists, senior motorists, and those who commute or drive as part of their employment.

The initiative seeks to foster ambitious ideas that can help eliminate serious injuries and deaths on the Scottish road network through creative and evidence-based interventions.

Cabinet Secretary for Transport Fiona Hyslop said: "Road safety remains a top priority for the Scottish Government and this Fund will support organisations with ideas that can make a real difference when it comes to saving lives.

"We want applications that are ambitious and innovative to help us keep moving towards our long‑term vision of eliminating serious injuries and fatalities on our roads.

"I have long stressed the importance of partnership working in the road safety sector, so I'm encouraging all organisations to consider applying to this Fund to help bring forward plans that will save lives and ensure a safer Scotland for all."
