The project to double the capacity of Bluebell House, a specialist learning facility for Stirling's young people with additional support needs (ASN), has reached a major milestone.

Located on the grounds of Bannockburn High School, the hub is undergoing an expansion to increase its capacity from 24 to 48 pupils.

The timber frame of the extension was completed this month, keeping the project on schedule for its estimated opening in August 2026. The initial facility first opened to students in August 2025, providing bespoke accommodation including a sensory room, nurture nooks, classrooms, and a general-purpose room.

The second phase of the project represents an investment of £4.3 million, funded by the Education core capital programme. This brings the total investment for the state-of-the-art facility to £9.4 million.

Social Work and Education Convener, Cllr Bob Buchanan, commented: "I'm delighted to see the pace of progress on the extension to Bluebell House which is already proving to be an excellent facility for young people with additional support needs. Doubling the capacity of this learning hub will help respond to the needs of pupils and their families. It reaffirms Stirling Council's commitment to investing and enhancing our education estate and ensuring the best outcomes for our children and young people."

The design and build contract is being managed by Hub East Central Scotland Ltd, with Ogilvie Construction serving as the main contractor. Following the timber frame completion, the site team will now focus on the external envelope and internal fit-out.
