Kingdom Housing Association (KHA) has received a £13 million funding boost to support its ongoing efforts to address the housing emergency in Scotland.
The finance was arranged by Allia C&C through its Charitable Bond programme, a long-standing initiative delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government.
The Charitable Bond scheme provides housing associations with straightforward, unsecured loans for terms of up to 15 years. A key feature of this unique funding model is that the interest generated by the loans is reinvested by the Scottish Government as grants to support additional social housing projects. This ensures that capital remains within the sector to maximise its social impact.
Kingdom Housing Association is a frequent participant in the programme, having secured a £5 million loan through the scheme as recently as 2025. This latest multi-million-pound injection will enable the association to progress its extensive development pipeline and further its mission of providing "more than a home" to its residents.
Peter Freer, Director of Debt Capital Markets and Head of the Scottish Office at Allia C&C, commented: "Kingdom Housing Association has been a consistent and valued recipient of Charitable Bonds throughout the decade since this funding mechanism was established. Allia C&C are delighted to partner with them once again on this latest bond issuance. Kingdom continues to deliver an ambitious and impactful development programme, and this funding represents a crucial component of the comprehensive financing strategy required to bring these plans to fruition."
Lesley Janes, Finance Director at Kingdom Group, emphasised the importance of the partnership in the current climate:
"This partnership helps us deliver much-needed new homes and play our part in tackling the housing emergency. We know the difference that high-quality, affordable housing makes for our customers and communities. The Charitable Bond loan funding from Allia C&C is an important part of financing our development programme and supports our ambition to do more."
The funding arrives as part of a wider effort by the Scottish Government to utilise innovative financial tools to increase the supply of affordable and social-rented properties across the country.
