Scotland's Free Tender Training Helps Firms Win Public Contracts

The Supplier Development Programme (SDP) delivers a packed calendar of free training webinars and networking events across Scotland, aimed at helping businesses secure public contracts.

SDP is a partnership between Local Authorities, the Scottish Government and other public bodies, working together to support Scottish SMEs and Third Sector Organisations (TSOs) with every stage of tendering.

For Scottish-based SMEs and TSOs, SDP offers a comprehensive programme of free core tender training via webinars and e‑learning. This ranges from introductory modules for those new to bidding through to advanced sessions designed to boost win rates and explore new markets.

SDP also collaborates with more than 55 public and private sector organisations to showcase contract and supply chain opportunities through supplier engagement events. Bespoke Talking Tenders and Aligned Tender Training webinars help suppliers identify opportunities with partner organisations and understand how to bid for them.

Suppliers looking to meet buyers directly can attend in-person Meet the Buyer events across the country, designed to connect businesses with key decision makers, build networks and uncover upcoming opportunities.

Beyond training, Scottish SMEs and TSOs can access extensive online resources on the SDP website, including guidance on key policies, free policy templates and a jargon buster.

Not a Scottish-based SME? While you will not be able to access the full range of free support, non-Scottish SMEs can still attend supplier engagement events such as Talking Tenders and Aligned Tender Training webinars to learn about partner contract opportunities and how to bid. You can also join free, in-person Meet the Buyer events to network with buyers from across the public and private sectors.
