Record Participation For McLaughlin & Harvey Health And Wellbeing Roadshow

The latest YouMatter Health, Safety & Wellbeing Roadshow has reported record-breaking engagement levels following its recent tour of 19 sites across the UK, spanning locations from Cambridge to Belfast.

The initiative, which provides critical health screenings to employees, clients, and subcontractors, saw a significant rise in participants utilising the new, upgraded mobile unit.

Data from the 2025 roadshow reveals that occupational health practitioners from New Leaf consulted with 876 individuals, a notable increase from 707 in 2024 and 438 in 2023. Additionally, 1,079 participants used the Health Check Point equipment to calculate body composition—marking a 31% rise in usage compared to the previous year.

The roadshow's impact on long-term health is becoming evident, with referrals for high blood glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol dropping by 8.6%. Many returning participants showed improved health statistics, attributed to lifestyle adjustments made following advice received during previous tours and ongoing wellbeing programmes throughout the year.

Alastair Lambe, Group SHEQ Director at McLaughlin & Harvey, said: "With the development of serious health problems caused by lifestyle factors on the increase, we were pleased to see more people than ever getting involved in the initiative, whether by attending an appointment, using the Health Check Point equipment, having a stress-relieving massage or seeking mental health support.

"By providing access to regular health checks and raising awareness of the importance of this, we can help our colleagues and wider supply chain identify early signs of poor health and make small changes which can have a big impact."

As the initiative approaches its 20th anniversary in 2026, it has evolved into an industry-leading programme. The roadshow continues to play a vital role in the construction sector by ensuring the workforce has direct access to the services and information required to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
