Clark Contracts Academy Hits Record Number Of Trainees And Apprentices

Clark Contracts has achieved a significant milestone, setting a company record for the number of trainees and apprentices enrolled in its award-winning Academy.

The firm's Academy welcomed 11 new employees during 2025, who have taken up a variety of trainee and apprentice positions. The new recruits include Trade Apprentices, Office-based Apprentices, Trainee Quantity Surveyors, and Trainee Site Managers. This latest intake has pushed the total number of individuals currently enrolled in the Academy to over 45, marking the highest number in the company's history since the Academy was founded in 2006.

Over its operational history, the Clark Contracts Academy has actively supported more than 400 trainees and apprentices entering the construction industry.

The comprehensive training approach ensures each new employee is paired with a dedicated mentor. Their studies are completed through structured educational pathways, including Modern Apprenticeship, Graduate Apprenticeship, HNC, and Honours Degree qualifications.

The formal learning element involves attendance at various colleges and universities across Scotland, such as Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh Napier University, and Glasgow Caledonian University, as well as the City of Glasgow College and West College Scotland. This education is combined with essential on-the-job training.

The firm initiates its trainee recruitment process with annual Careers Evenings, which this year were held in Paisley and Edinburgh in March, and which many of the new employees attended.

Gordon Cunningham, Managing Director of Clark Contracts, highlighted the importance of this commitment to talent development: "Supporting future talent and nurturing our existing team is vital to the continued growth and success of our business. We're excited to welcome our newest trainees and apprentices into the Academy and look forward to seeing them develop their skills and grow within the company."
