Aberdeenshire Council Completes New Homes In Mintlaw

Aberdeenshire Council has formally marked the completion of a major housing development at Nether Aden, Mintlaw, delivering 73 new rental properties.

The homes, a mix of one- to four-bedroom houses, flats, and bungalows, were completed over the summer, with most properties already occupied and the final allocations underway.

The new-build project was delivered in four phases by contractors Ogilvie Construction, aligning with the Council's high energy-efficiency build specification. The project represented an £18 million investment, partly funded by the Scottish Government's New Build Grant, as part of the Council's Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP).

A key feature of the development is the collaboration between Aberdeenshire Council and the Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership. This partnership allowed for several properties to be specifically adapted to meet the needs of clients with physical and learning disabilities, including the installation of wet rooms and various other aids.

The completion was formally marked by a short ceremony led by Provost of Aberdeenshire, Councillor Judy Whyte.

Provost Whyte expressed her satisfaction with the outcome: "I was very pleased to be able to see the completed development for myself and the way it has been tailored to meet the varying needs of tenants."

Councillor Anne Stirling, chair of the Integration Joint Board and Aberdeenshire Council's Communities Committee, also welcomed the partnership working: "This is a great example of partnership working that will provide the best outcomes for tenants and allow them to move in with ease and feel at home quickly."
