Kingdom Housing Association has welcomed residents to their new homes following the completion of the South of Hill View development in Kinglassie, Fife.
The project, delivered in partnership with Quale Homes, provides 45 new social rent properties within a wider private development, marking a significant step in providing affordable accommodation in the area.
The total construction cost for the affordable homes reached nearly £9 million. This was financed through a partnership model, with the Scottish Government providing 55% of the funding, and Kingdom Housing Association financing the remaining 45%.
The new homes offer a mix of accommodation types, including a two-bedroom amenity bungalow and a four-bedroom detached family home, offering much-needed quality housing options in an area where house prices can be a challenge for many families.
Focus on Energy Efficiency and Community Build
A key feature of the development is its focus on long-term affordability and sustainability. The properties have an energy rating of B, ensuring residents will benefit from highly energy-efficient living to keep householders' costs down during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
Kingdom's Development Manager, Sean Whittet, emphasised the positive impact of the construction: "At Kingdom, we know the positive impact high-quality, affordable housing has and in the middle of a housing emergency, our new-build programme means we can play a vital part in bringing much-needed housing to Fife."
In line with Kingdom’s community-first approach, the project also delivered economic benefits to the local area, providing job opportunities for local sub-contractors and offering valuable experience to student apprentices employed on-site.
