Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Area Commander Andrew Wright has been named vice-chair of the Aberdeenshire Community Planning Partnership Board, following a decision at the group’s September meeting.

Board chair Cllr Anne Stirling welcomed the appointment, said: "The board is very pleased to welcome Andrew as our new vice-chair. Andrew already has strong connections with the partnership and his vast experience with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and detailed knowledge of Aberdeenshire communities will be a real asset to our work."

Cllr Stirling also paid tribute to former vice-chair Dr Adam Coldwells: "I would also like to share my sincere appreciation to former vice-chair Dr Adam Coldwells for his significant and long-standing contribution to the Aberdeenshire Community Planning Partnership and collaborative working, and wish him all the best in his retirement."

Wright began his career with the former Grampian Fire & Rescue Service in 2002 and has lived in the area for over 30 years. He currently serves as Area Commander for Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, and Moray.

Commenting on his new role, Wright said: "It's a privilege to be appointed as vice-chair of the Aberdeenshire Community Planning Partnership Board, this is an important forum that brings together partners committed to improving outcomes for our communities.

"I'm looking forward to building on the excellent work already underway and continuing the strong collaborative efforts that define this partnership. I’m particularly excited about the opportunities ahead – especially how we can work together to make real progress on Local Outcomes Improvement Plan and deliver meaningful change across Aberdeenshire.

"I'm grateful for the warm welcome from Cllr Stirling and the Board, and I'd also like to acknowledge Dr Adam Coldwells for his significant contribution over the years."
