Upgrades to the floodlighting at St Margaret's High School sports pitches are currently in progress, with outdated fixtures being replaced by modern, energy-efficient lighting.
The initiative is supported by the Scotland Recycling Fund, which invests in projects that promote environmental sustainability and smarter use of resources.
Councillor Jim Logue, Leader of North Lanarkshire Council, said: "The council is using money from the fund for several improvements, all helping to cut costs and reduce our environmental impact.
"I'm sure that everyone who uses the pitches in the dark nights will notice the benefits too.
"The work is just one of a number of planned improvements to leisure facilities, offices and schools across the area."
