The Tweedbank Care Village project in the Scottish Borders has celebrated a major milestone with a public engagement session and the official ground-breaking ceremony at the development site.
The engagement session provided residents, families, community members, and school children with a first look at detailed site plans, architectural renderings, and colour schemes. Project officers were on hand to share insights into the cutting-edge technologies being considered to enhance care delivery, with a focus on dignity and promoting independence.
Key stakeholders, including representatives from Ogilvie Construction and Hub South East, attended the ground-breaking, capturing the collaborative spirit driving the project.
With planning approval secured in July 2025, the first phase of groundworks is set to begin in Autumn 2025. Main works construction is due to commence in early 2026, with a targeted completion date of June 2027.
Councillor David Parker, Executive Member for Integrated Care and Support Services, said the ground-breaking "represents our ongoing work to develop truly ground-breaking approaches to care."
He added that the developing Care Villages focus on "building on people's strengths" and will provide high-quality environments where people can live safely and independently, stay connected, and be involved with the local community.
