Residents and businesses in Anderston and Kelvingrove are being invited to share their views on proposed plans to improve local streets and public spaces through two live consultations: the Anderston Liveable Neighbourhood and Connecting Yorkhill and Kelvingrove projects.
The updated design proposals for both initiatives aim to transform the areas into greener, more attractive spaces, while making it safer and easier for people to get around by walking, wheeling, or cycling.
The Anderston Liveable Neighbourhood plans focus on improving the environment for pedestrians along Kent Road, Brechin Street, Claremont Street, Breadalbane Street and Dover Street. Proposed changes include upgrading pavements with dropped kerbs and tactile paving, improving pedestrian crossings, and adding new infrastructure such as cycle shelters, green planting, and enhanced drainage.
The latest phase of the Connecting Yorkhill and Kelvingrove project includes proposals for an enhanced public realm outside Exhibition Centre Train Station and explores improvements to Corunna Street, Minerva Street and St Vincent Crescent. Proposed enhancements include making Corunna Street one-way northbound with a dedicated southbound cycle lane, upgrading pavements, and adding clearer signage. Construction of Phase One of this project (covering Gilbert Street, Radnor Street, Haugh Road, Yorkhill Street, and Sandyford Street) is scheduled to begin in October.
Councillor Angus Millar, City Convener for Transport, encouraged the community to participate, stating the proposals have the potential to create "safer, more attractive streets at the heart of the neighbourhood." He added that the council is "placing pedestrians and those who wheel at the heart of the design".
The consultations are part of Glasgow's wider Liveable Neighbourhoods programme, which is being delivered in six tranches and incorporates a feminist town planning approach to engage young women and girls in the design process.
Both online consultations are open until Friday, 7 November 2025. A community drop-in event covering both projects will be held at The Pyramid at Anderston on Thursday, 9 October 2025, between 3.30pm and 7.00pm.
