HIE Awards £3.5m Contract For New Business Units At Golspie Park

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has awarded a £3.458 million contract to Morrison Construction to deliver new small business units at Golspie Business Park.

First established by HIE in the 1990s, the business park created nine development plots and has since grown into a hub supporting the local economy in Golspie and across Sutherland. The new investment will expand the site, providing flexible and affordable premises to meet a variety of business needs.

Plans include two larger terraces and one smaller terrace. The larger blocks can either be divided into two units of around 90 square metres or offered as a single 180-square-metre space. The smaller terrace will feature two 60-square-metre units or a single 120-square-metre option.

Designs are due to be finalised in the coming months, with construction scheduled to begin early next year and completion expected in summer 2026. The Golspie development is part of HIE's broader programme of investment in small business units across rural communities.

Eann Sinclair, HIE's area manager for Caithness and Sutherland, said: "Modern, flexible premises are vital to enable local businesses to grow and to attract new businesses into the area. We have worked hard to bring forward this programme of work for Golspie Business Park, and we look forward to getting on with the construction phase as we continue to seek wider economic benefits for the area."

Gordon Williamson, Managing Director for Morrison Construction Building Highland, added: "We're pleased to be working with HIE on this important development in Golspie. These new business units will provide modern, flexible space for local enterprises to grow and thrive, supporting both the community and wider Sutherland economy. Our team has a strong track record of delivering high-quality projects across the Highlands, and we look forward to bringing these new facilities to life."
