Blackwood Plant Hire has made a significant investment in 2025 by adding 51 new JCB machines to its fleet. The move highlights the company's continued growth, particularly in the North of Scotland, and its long-standing relationship with Scot JCB.
The new additions include 17 mini and midi excavators, 14 tracked excavators (including two of the latest 370X model), 4 wheeled excavators, 5 site dumpers, and 4 tandem rollers. Managing Director Paul McCormack stated the decision to invest so heavily in JCB was due to the machines' reliability, ease of obtaining parts, and operator comfort. He estimates that around 75% of the new machines have already gone into operation in the north of the country.
The relationship between Blackwood Plant Hire and Scot JCB has spanned over two decades. Mr McCormack praised the after-sales service from Scot JCB, calling it "incredible." He noted that the engineers usually arrive with the necessary part, ensuring a "first-time fix" that keeps the business moving.
The company also relies on JCB Finance for flexible financing options, working with David Dodds to structure deals that support its growth. Mr McCormack stated that the loyalty is built on a combination of great products, strong service, and trusted relationships.
