Eastwood HQ Closes For Major Refurbishment

East Renfrewshire Council's work to upgrade the facilities at Eastwood HQ is underway, with the building set to close for refurbishment at the end of September.

The renovation was agreed upon by councillors to ensure the building, constructed in 1980, can remain fit for purpose for at least the next 20 years.

The building has not received any significant investment or upgrades to its core infrastructure since its construction. The upgrades will address this by including accessibility improvements to the chamber, ICT and electrical upgrades, window replacements, and bathroom refurbishments.

During the refurbishment, council employees and councillors will move to a range of other council buildings in Barrhead, Spiersbridge, and Eastwood House. From Monday, 22 September, Customer First and Registration services will be relocated to the council's Spiersbridge office.

The meeting of the full council on Thursday, 25 September, will be held at Eastwood HQ. Following that, all council and committee meetings will be held at Eastwood House. Due to limited space, there will be no public gallery, but full council meetings will continue to be webcast live on the council's YouTube channel.

The renovations are expected to be completed and the building fully reopened by July 2026. At that time, the council will move out of the leased Spiersbridge office, which is expected to provide significant long-term savings. The total budget for the project is estimated to be £6.16 million.
