Work is moving forward on a major housing project at Almondvale Crescent, Livingston, which will deliver supported accommodation for young people alongside additional council homes.
The development uses modular construction, with housing units built offsite before being transported for final assembly on location.
Construction stalled after the original contractor, Connect Modular, went into administration. However, Ogilvie Construction Ltd has since been appointed through Hub South East, the council’s delivery partner, to complete the project. Units built in the factory are now on site, and progress is being made on finalising the build.
Once finished, the supported housing element will comprise 28 one-bedroom flats, with 16 designed for potential future use as mainstream housing. Flexible office space for up to ten staff and overnight accommodation will also be provided, giving dedicated space and privacy while ensuring support for residents.
In addition, 20 new affordable homes – a mix of two and three-bedroom houses – will be delivered.
Completion is expected on a phased basis between January and July 2026.
Executive councillor for housing services George Paul visited the site with council officers, along with representatives from Ogilvie and Hub South East, to see the final modular units being installed.
Executive councillor for Housing Services, George Paul said: "With demand for affordable housing continuing to grow, especially specialist provision for young people, it was imperative that this project continued. It was great to see an installation taking place in person. My thanks to all involved for their efforts to get the project back up and running and I look forward to seeing young people in their tenancy."
Grier Edmead, Operations Director, Ogilvie Construction, said: "We have made excellent progress on the build since our appointment to the project and look forward to handing over the first completed homes in the new year."
