It has been a significant week for the Kilgallioch Windfarm project in Dumfries and Galloway, with blades and towers arriving on site as part of a major expansion led by ScottishPower Renewables.
Construction firm Farrans is acting as principal contractor on the project, working with its client to deliver extensions at both Arecleoch Windfarm in South Ayrshire and Kilgallioch Windfarm in Dumfries and Galloway.
The approved developments will add 13 new turbines to Arecleoch and a further nine to Kilgallioch, increasing overall capacity to almost 485MW. This output will be enough to power the equivalent of more than 300,000 homes.
In addition to strengthening renewable energy generation, the expansion is expected to increase the level of community benefit funding provided through both sites, further supporting local initiatives and environmental enrichment across the region.
