Ground investigations are now underway in Cardenden as part of a new Flood Protection Scheme.

The contract to carry out the work was awarded to Dunelm Geotechnical and Environmental, with the investigations expected to last for around seven weeks.

The data gathered during this phase will be used to inform the detailed design of the scheme, which is due to be completed in early 2026. The construction phase of the flood protection scheme is anticipated to begin in 2027, subject to a range of approvals.

Councillor Altany Craik, Fife Council's Spokesperson for Finance, Economy & Strategic Planning, said that as climate change continues to impact the region’s coast and waterways, the council is investing millions over the next ten years to help build more resilient communities and infrastructure. He stated that the council is working hard to alleviate problems in the worst-hit areas.

To facilitate the work, temporary traffic lights and footpath diversions have been put in place at various locations throughout Cardenden.
