Recycle Scotland Saves Over 111,000kg Of CO2e

Recycle Scotland has announced that its circular economy projects saved 111,875 kg CO2e in the first six months of 2025.

The company, which is 15 years old, achieved the environmental savings by rehoming or recycling 4,121 pieces of workplace furniture, weighing a total of 93,000 kg, that would otherwise have gone to landfill.

The Scotland-based company, which operates across the UK, provides a comprehensive circular approach to managing workplace furniture. This involves uplifting unwanted items, refurbishing them through reupholstery and re-engineering, and finding new homes for them. When reuse is not an option, the products are responsibly recycled.

Drew Carmichael, Director of Recycle Scotland, said the results "demonstrate the immense value in delivering both environmental and operational benefits to our clients." He added that the company's approach allows businesses to "significantly reduce their environmental impact while benefiting from cost-effective furniture disposal and procurement alternatives."

The company's carbon savings calculations are aligned with the industry-standard FIRA Study. To help clients track their sustainability achievements, each completed project receives a tailored certificate detailing its environmental impact. The company's success in the first half of 2025 highlights a growing demand for circular economy solutions in the workplace furniture sector as businesses look for practical ways to meet environmental targets.
