Transport Scotland's operating company BEAR Scotland is set to carry out essential overnight resurfacing works on the A68, north of Fala Dam, on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 August 2025.
The project will see approximately 500 metres of carriageway resurfaced around 1.5 miles south of Pathhead, improving road safety and creating smoother journeys for motorists.
To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, the affected section of the A68 will be closed between 7:30pm and 6:00am on both nights.
A signed diversion will be in place during the closure. Southbound traffic will be rerouted via the A720 at Sheriffhall Roundabout, then along the A7 and B6458 to Fala Dam. The same route will be used in reverse for northbound journeys. This will add approximately 3.5 miles and around 3 minutes to travel times.
Access will be maintained for emergency services at all times, and local residents will be permitted to pass through the work zone when it is safe to do so.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.
"We have planned the work to take place overnight to minimise disruption. We thank motorists for their understanding."
