Clark Contracts has been appointed to deliver a new residential development in Nitshill on behalf of Strathcarron Developments.
A ground-breaking ceremony took place on Thursday, 24 July, marking the official start of construction. Attendees included Dallas Rhodes and Angus MacLeod from Strathcarron Developments, Graham Whitters from Unum Partnership, Lynne Roy from Hardies, Jim McLaughlin from Fairhurst, Susan Campbell from The Bank (Scottish National Investment Bank), Laura Laurie from Corum Property, and Michael Scanlan, Director at Clark Contracts.
Located on Nitshill Road, the development - named Station Wynd - will offer a collection of two and three-bedroom properties tailored for first-time buyers, young families, and local residents. As part of a funding partnership with the Scottish National Investment Bank and Glasgow City Council, the initial release of homes will prioritise local buyers and those stepping onto the property ladder for the first time, aiming to boost home ownership and strengthen community ties.
Each home is designed for modern living, incorporating energy-efficient features such as air-source heat pumps, providing a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional heating systems.
Dallas Rhodes of Strathcarron Developments commented: "Station Wynd is about creating homes that are practical, sustainable and accessible for local people. We're proud to be bringing forward a development that supports first-time buyers and helps families stay in the community they know and love."
Michael Scanlan, Director at Clark Contracts, added: "We are delighted to be working with Strathcarron Homes to deliver these high-quality, energy efficient homes for Nitshill. It's a fantastic project that combines thoughtful design with sustainable construction."
The project has secured loan finance of £3.9 million from the Scottish National Investment Bank. This development forms part of Glasgow City Council's wider Nitshill Regeneration Framework and is further supported by a Partnership Support for Regeneration grant from the Scottish Government, administered by Glasgow City Council.
Susan Campbell, Director, Market Creation (Place) of the Scottish National Investment Bank, stated: "We are delighted to support Strathcarron Developments in delivering these much-needed homes. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission of creating sustainable, high-quality and affordable housing solutions for the community."
Construction is being led by Clark Contracts, with sales and marketing managed by Corum Property, one of Scotland's leading estate agents. Ewan Blair, Partner at Corum Property, anticipates high demand, particularly from first-time buyers.
Councillor Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Housing and Development at Glasgow City Council, remarked: "These high-quality new family homes will help meet the need for this type of housing and contribute to the regeneration of the area. The council's framework for Nitshill calls for brownfield sites such as these to be developed to bring new housing to local communities, and we are pleased to work with project partners to support this development."
