Residents and businesses in Coatbridge are being encouraged to take part in an online survey to help shape the future of the town, as part of a major regeneration initiative backed by £19.5 million in UK Government funding.
The survey builds on community consultation held last summer and is designed to capture local views on key areas for investment. Responses will help inform the final version of Coatbridge’s Regeneration Plan and a detailed four-year investment strategy, which will be submitted to the UK Government for approval later this year.
The funding, to be delivered over a ten-year period, aims to support a long-term vision for transforming Coatbridge and improving quality of life for local people.
The regeneration effort is being led by the Coatbridge Neighbourhood Board, a group established to oversee the development and delivery of the plan. The board is made up of local business and community representatives, Police Scotland, an MP and MSP, two local councillors, and is chaired by an independent representative.
A key focus of the regeneration plan is based on priorities identified by the community in previous consultations:
• More opportunities for young people
• Investing in existing assets and facilities
• Creating a safer, friendlier town centre
The current survey, which runs until 29 August, seeks further feedback on these three priority areas.
The survey is available online at Plan for Neighbourhoods – Coatbridge | North Lanarkshire Council, and QR codes linking to it will be displayed across the town in locations such as Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, the Time Capsule, Coatbridge Library, and various community centres.
