GRAHAM has formally handed over the 321-studio St Vincent Studios purpose-built student accommodation to developer Artisan Real Estate, completing the £38m scheme in Glasgow city centre ahead of the 2026/27 academic year.
The development on St Vincent Street was delivered by GRAHAM on behalf of Artisan Real Estate and Housing Growth Partnership, the Lloyds-backed investor in the UK living sector. The completed scheme will be operated by Homes for Students, the UK's largest third-party student accommodation manager, under its Prestige Student Living brand.
Replacing a 1970s office block that had stood empty since 2019, the green terracotta building brings a prominent city centre site back into use. It sits within walking distance of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian University, the Glasgow School of Art and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Arranged over 16 storeys, St Vincent Studios provides 321 self-contained studios alongside a range of amenities, including study areas, a gym, a cinema room, a games room, private dining facilities and a sky lounge. Residents also have access to five roof terraces and secure internal storage for 160 bicycles.
An official ribbon-cutting marked the handover, led by David Westwater, managing director for Scotland at Artisan Real Estate, and attended by William Ross, construction director at GRAHAM, and Alastair Bain, commercial director for Scotland at Artisan Real Estate.
The milestone comes amid continued growth in Glasgow's purpose-built student accommodation. Glasgow City Council recorded 21,187 student bedspaces across the city in January 2026, against an estimated 90,000 higher education students, according to Invest Glasgow.
William Ross, construction director at GRAHAM, said: "Handing over St Vincent Studios marks the completion of a complex city centre build, delivered ahead of programme and within budget while working alongside occupied and listed neighbours.
"The scheme reflects the depth of GRAHAM's work across Glasgow's student and residential sectors, where we're delivering a growing pipeline that ranges from PBSA to build-to-rent."
David Westwater, managing director at Artisan Scotland, said: "We are delighted to see this fantastic building completed and handed over ahead of schedule. Graham Construction and the design team have delivered an exemplar student accommodation in the heart of Glasgow city centre on an extremely tight and challenging site.
"Artisan and our partners Homes for Students are excited to welcome our first students to St Vincent Studios in just a few weeks. Interest in the studio apartments has been high, with bookings from both the UK and abroad, and having a completed building to showcase ahead of the start of the academic year will allow us to build on that early interest."
GRAHAM is also advancing further student housing in the city. At Central Quay, it is constructing a 934-bedroom development for Unite Students, due to open for the 2027/28 academic year, with a café, gym, study spaces and a garden terrace, and targeting a BREEAM Excellent sustainability rating.
These projects add to GRAHAM's Glasgow portfolio, which includes the £81.5 million Candleriggs Square build-to-rent development and Cullen House on Bath Street, handed over in 2025.
