Clark Completes New Moorpark Primary School Development

Construction News Image
The new Moorpark Primary School was officially opened in late May, during a special event attended by pupils, teachers, and guests.

North Ayrshire Provost Anthea Dickson formally marked the occasion by unveiling a commemorative plaque.

The new facility, constructed by Clark Contracts as part of North Ayrshire Council's Capital Investment Programme, is located adjacent to the former building. Staff moved into the new school on Monday, 28th October, with pupils commencing their learning journey from Wednesday, 30th October. The modern school features 12 primary classes and a 16-place early years provision, offering a spacious hall, breakout areas, and an all-weather pitch to create a fantastic new learning environment.

A key priority in the development of the new school was sustainability and environmental performance, reflected in its design and material selection. Key features include an effective natural ventilation strategy for fresh air year-round, and solar PV panels to provide free, renewable electricity. Additionally, improvements to local pedestrian and cycle pathways, along with new cycle and scooter storage facilities, encourage sustainable travel for all pupils, staff, and visitors.

Provost Anthea Dickson expressed her delight: "The pupils were an absolute credit to the staff and their families and were so warm, welcoming and, of course, talented. We are thrilled that they are getting the opportunity to start their education journey here at Moorpark Primary." Councillor Shaun Macaulay, Cabinet Member for Education, added: "Not only will it be a fantastic learning environment but the building will also be energy efficient and it has been developed with sustainability at its core."

Head Teacher Rachael Carlisle conveyed her pride: "A huge thanks to the Provost for officially opening our wonderful new school. I am incredibly proud to be the Head Teacher and am supported by a fantastic staff, school community, and most importantly brilliant young people. We very much look forward to what the future brings and we couldn't be happier or prouder of our school." Michael Scanlan, Director at Clark Contracts, also commented: "We were delighted to attend the official opening of Moorpark Primary School and hope that this new state-of-the-art building will be a valuable asset to both the pupils and the wider community."
